The Basic Green Machine

1 cup spinach (just load up!)
1/2 cup dairy free milk
1 frozen banana
1 or 2 tsp chia seeds
1/2 tbsp maple syrup
1/2 handful of ice
Optional: vanilla protein powder
Optional: dash of cinnamon

Coconut flakes (I like toasted)
Flax, Chia, Hemp seeds
Goji berries
Cacao nibs
Granola
Berries
Nuts
Grape nuts (high fiber!)
I love to experiment when it comes to making smoothies. You can’t really go wrong… well once you have the right ingredients you can’t go too wrong. When it comes to following smoothie recipes, I often just go for it. Load up on that spinach, especially if you have a whole bunch and it’s about to go bad. Play around with flavors and fruit combinations. Find a way to throw in some veggies when you can (frozen cauliflower rice has barely any flavor when blended)
If you’re worried about a certain flavor combination, try adding the basic ingredients first. Once you get more comfortable, free-style it! I like to eye ball the ingredients and taste as I blend. Don’t be too concerned with the color, many of my smoothies have turned brown but that doesn’t mean it tastes bad!
